Determination

This cute little pig is determined to climb this wall. Write about determination.

1. Write about a time when you needed determination to do something difficult. What did you need to do? Why was it difficult? How did your determination help you to do it?

2. Do you need determination to do something difficult now? What is it? Why is it so difficult? What can you do to show that you are determined to do it?

  1. When I graduated from Central Conservatory of Music, where I completed my undergraduate studies, I needed a lot of determination to get me through this hard time. I didn’t know where I could go. Should I find a job to make some money, or do I need to go to America to follow my dream? My dream is to study the cello and get an MBA, and perhaps one day have my own stage and company. So I needed a lot of determination to do it because there are many people looking for a job, and if I left China, it would be hard to go back to find a good job. But I still want follow my dream. I had this dream since I was eleven years old. I finally decided to go to America to make my dream come true. A few days ago, I had the same problem. I had a very good chance to go back to find a very good job in China. But I hadn’t finished my dream yet. I wondered, what should I do now? Should I go back or stay here? I believe my dream is the most important thing in my life, so I finally decided that I am determined to stay here until I finish my dream.

A person must have determination to do things frequently in life. It is my wish to travel and study, and I need very great resolve to do it. Because I am not young, I have to stop working while traveling and studying, and it costs a lot of money. I spent a long time to think about this question, should I or shouldn’t I go. Finally, my family supported to me, and they gave me strong confidence to do it.
Like this cute pig, it wants to climb this wall to look at the world and learn more. So I am too. I want to know local American culture and to learn English. It is especially very difficult for me to study English. Because the culture is so different, and the ways of thinking are different, too. I often use Chinese rules to think in English, and that makes me often use the incorrect grammar. Now I am in the U.S.A, and beginning to study English. I am like the cute little pig determined to climb the wall, trying to achieve success in English in the U.S.A.
